PROUD TO BE THE NEW INSTALLER FOR PISCINE PLUS
You finally got things together and you decided to get your new floor or you are just interested in the process and want to see what it entails.
Well, first we will inspect the site again and decide on a plan of action, and get a deposit from you. (for further details on payment refer to our standard contract details)
We will have to decide if you are painting the floor afterward. If you are painting the floor then a vapor barrier must be added to stop the moisture from being absorbed by the concrete and therefore making the paint flake off.
We will need to chip out the old concrete and this can be a noisy process but we will work around your schedule to make sure that the inconvenience is kept to a minimum.
Chipping a 2-car garage will usually take 2-3 days. We can do it faster if you are in a rush.
The next step is removing the debris so that by the second day we will have a bin to collect all the refuse. Don't worry all this stuff gets recycled so your carbon footprint won't take a hit.
Once the area is clear we can asses if we need more stone to get it to the grade we want. Here are some technical details the Industry standard for a residential parking space for 2 mid-size cars is 4 inches. If you park heavier trucks then 5 or 6 inches is recommended. We generally recommend a concrete that has been reinforced with fiber. (if you are interested I will link a page for info on this product.)
After the proper grading has been done we will prepare the area to be poured.
Pour day we will be at least 3 people and the process should be pretty quick. Barring any issues we will be done by the end of the day.
The day after pour day we will visit the site again to cut the floor into equal portions as to manage the eventual and natural cracking of the floor.
Congratulations on your new floor as we probably already told you. Your new concrete floor needs about 28 days to fully cure meaning develop its full strength. You really don't have to do anything just no heavy loads for about 3 days and keep it ventilated every day for an hour. If you specified for paint at the outset then it will need a further 30 days to make sure all the humidity has evaporated. We will test to make sure before any paint is applied.
